Profile and Goal:

We are a Reggio Emilia inspiried, bilingual and multicultural preschool where children will get a good start in the English language.

Our aim is to provide a high quality preschool program that introduces the children to English at a very early age and that follows the goals of the Swedish National Curriculum for Preschools (Lpfö98, revised 2010).

At Engelska Skolan Norr we have 20 years of experience in teaching in two languages and with a multi-cultural profile. Engelska Förskolan draws upon that experience to the benefit of its young students.

Pedagogics: Influences from Reggio Emilia.

Groups:

Child groups: We receive up to 60 children in four age based departments. Each department has staff that speak mainly English or mainly Swedish with the children.

Parallel to the age based groups, some activities are maturity based. In the afternoons the departments are mixed and participate in activites based on interest.

Little Stars: children ages 1-3- 12 children, 3 staff

Mars: children ages 1-3- 12 children, 3 staff

Saturn: children ages 3-5, 3 staff

Mercury children ages 3-5, 3 staff

Staff to child Ratio: There is 1 staff to 5,2 children on average.

Our rooms:

The Library - for songs, rhymes, story-telling, puppet shows, letter sounds and suchlike.

The Small Laboratory - for simple experiments, building and taking apart things

The Big Laboratory - the same, but for the older children, more advanced activities.

The Movement Room - a room for physical movement and gymnastics. This room is also for the youngest when it is nap time.

The Main Area - our BIG area, sub-divided into eating area/arts & crafts, role play area, and our "wet" area for water based activities.

7.30-17.30

Please note that we are closed 3 weeks in summer.

Closed in summer:

the last 3 weeks of July - alternative placement is offered, if there is need.
